Target Enables Mobile Phone Program for Gift Cards

Minneapolis-based Target Corp. is letting customers use mobile phones to redeem gift cards through a new program dubbed Target Mobile GiftCard. The program allows users to retrieve gift-card barcodes online with their phones for scanning at checkout, the retailer said in a statement. Available in all of Target's 1,700-plus locations, the technology will enable customers to make purchases in-store without having the gift card in hand.
