Forever 21 Unveils New Big-Box Concept in California
February 02, 2010
Los Angeles-based Forever 21 Inc. has unveiled its new big-box concept in Cerritos, Calif., at the Los Cerritos Center mall, according to Mercurynews.com. The 85,000-sq.-ft. space replaces a former Mervyns department store and is the first flagship for the fast-fashion retailer's new concept. The new flagship features about 80 fitting rooms, more than 20 cashwraps and about 200,000 items of merchandise to make it a "one-stop shop." The store is one of 14 locations that Forever 21 acquired from Mervyns when it closed, and is about twice the size of its previous flagship store in Pasadena, Calif., according to Style Binge: The Orange County Register. The two-level store was completely gutted and renovated for about a year. “Cerritos is our new concept,” said Linda Chang, senior marketing manager, Forever 21. “It’s a prototype of the direction that Forever 21 is going into.” Chang also said the new store in Cerritos represents 20 different concept stores in one, offering everything from street duds and club clothes to more sophisticated career clothes, menswear, a children's collection, a plus-size line, shoes, makeup, lingerie and accessories. Forever 21, which operates 462 stores nationwide, plans to open a second big-box flagship in the 90,000-sq.-ft. space of the former Virgin Megastore in Times Square New York.
