Hackett's to Unveil New Concept Store in Queensbury, N.Y.
February 01, 2010
Ogdensburg, N.Y.-based retailer Hackett's Stores Inc. plans to launch a new concept store called HIIO in Queensbury, N.Y., this year, according to Poststar.com. Herbert Becker, president and CEO of Hackett's, said the new concept will sell brand-name apparel, shoes and gifts, as well as offer a kosher food department. Becker did not disclose the exact location of the new store, but confirmed that the company had signed a lease for a 25,000-sq.-ft. space in Queensbury. The new HIIO concept could open as early as May or June, Becker said. Currently, Hackett's operates four department stores in the St. Lawrence area, which carry clothing, consumer electronics, cell phones, shoes, housewares and hardware. Hackett's Stores Inc. also runs a hardware subsidiary, Patrick Hackett Hardware Co., which is seeking Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. According to the company's Web site, a specialty apparel and sporting goods store is slated to open Canton, N.Y.
