Retail Sales Increase in February
March 12, 2010
Washington D.C.-based United States Commerce Department reported a 0.3 percent increase in retail sales for the month of February, while motor vehicle and parts sales dropped 2 percent. Excluding automobile sales, retail sales increased 0.8 percent for the month, compared to 0.5 percent in January. Sales at general merchandise stores also increased, by 1 percent. In addition, Reuters reported a January sales adjustment of a 0.1 percent gain, from an earlier reported 0.5 increase.
