Blockbuster Express Kiosks Hit Maryland
November 03, 2009
Movie night in Baltimore's Carroll County recently got a boost as Blockbuster and Jiffy Mart teamed up to offer DVD-rental kiosks in several locations. Jiffy Mart, which operates four convenience stores countywide, according to its Web site, now has a Blockbuster Express kiosk in each, and according to a release from NCR Corp., the vendor installing the kiosks, these locations are the first in Maryland, Carroll County Times reported. The kiosks allow users to choose from a few hundred DVD titles, swipe a credit card and rent a movie for $1 per night, and membership isn't required to use the system. Also, the DVDs can be returned at any location, the report stated. By the end of 2009, NCR plans to set up more than 2,500 of the kiosks nationwide.
