Dallas-based 7-Eleven has made an offer to purchase Casey's General Stores Inc. for $40 per share, a transaction valued at approximately $2 billion, according to The Wall Street Journal. The offer exceeds an earlier bid of $38.50 per share from Alimentation Couche-Tard Inc., a Canadian c-store operator. 7-Eleven was revealed as the mystery, third-party bidder in the war for Ankeny, Iowa-based Casey's, which operates a chain of c-stores in the Midwest. Casey's already has refused the bid from Alimentation Couche-Tard Inc.
