Montvale, N.J.-based The Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Co. (A&P) announced that it will sell seven of its Connecticut locations to Big Y Supermarkets, according to the New Haven Register. Springfield, Mass.-based Big Y currently operates 25 Connecticut stores, including five in Greater New Haven. According to Charles D’Amour, president and COO of Big Y, the A&P locations the chain is acquiring will close by the end of October, and his company, “will spend the next few months evaluating the locations.” The financial details of the acquisition were not revealed.
