Cabela's Inc. Announces Plans for Stores in Texas, Oregon

Sidney, Neb.-based specialty retailer Cabela's Inc. announced plans to open a new 100,000-sq.-ft. store in Allen, Texas. Cabela's expects to open the Allen store, which will be the company's third location in Texas, in early spring 2011. The building's exterior will reflect Cabela's traditional store model with log construction, stonework, wood siding and metal roofing, while a large glass storefront will offer a view into the store's interior. The inside of the store will highlight Cabela's next-generation layout, which is designed to immerse customers in the outdoor experience and includes an aquarium, conservation-themed wildlife displays and trophy animal mounts. The store will also have a Gun Library, Fly-Fishing Shop, General Store and Bargain Cave. Construction is expected to start in late August 2010.
Cabela's also announced plans to open a store in Springfield, Ore., in early spring 2011. The 58,000-sq.-ft. Springfield store will anchor the west side of Gateway Mall and will be Cabela's first retail store in Oregon. The store's also will reflect Cabela's traditional store exterior and the next-generation layout inside.
