FTC Expected to Approve OfficeMax, Office Depot Merger
October 22, 2013
The Federal Trade Commission is expected to approve the proposed merger of Naperville, Ill.-based OfficeMax Inc. and Boca Raton, Fla.-based Office Depot, according to the Chicago Tribune. The commission determined that the merger is not likely to affect competition and the deal will go through without either company having to divest its holdings. Office Depot revealed plans to buy OfficeMax on Feb. 20 in an all-stock deal worth $976 million.
