Stockholm-based H&M Hennes & Mauritz AB (H&M) is building its largest-ever global store in New York’s Herald Center, according to www.wwd.com. Located across the street from Macy’s, the 63,000-sq.-ft., four-level flagship will open in fall 2014. A modern 300-ft. wraparound glass façade will replace the black glass covering the exterior of the first three floors of Herald Center. Images from ad campaigns will be interspersed in windows like billboards. The retailer also operates two other New York stores, one on 34th Street and Broadway, and the other on 34th Street and Seventh Avenue. The Herald Center store is part of H&M rapid expansion plans in the United States. Earlier this year, the retailer said it was opening 10 stores in cities such as Chicago; Washington, D.C.; New Orleans and Honolulu.
