Birmingham, Ala.-based Hibbett Sports is on track to open 55 to 60 new stores by the end of fiscal 2013. The company also plans to expand approximately 15 high-performing stores and close up to 18 underperforming stores by the end of the fiscal year. Hibbett Sports operates predominately in the Southeast, Southwest, Mid-Atlantic and the lower-Midwest regions of the United States. The company’s Hibbett Sports stores generally feature a 5,000-sq.-ft. format, and are located in strip centers and enclosed malls.
