Menomonee Falls, Wis.-based Kohl’s Department Stores has opened nine new stores. The new stores are located in Decatur, Ala.; Danville, Ill.; Ames, Iowa; Cedar Rapids, Iowa; Minot, N.D.; Sherwood, Ore.; Hermitage, Pa.; Spring Township, Pa.; and Denton, Texas. Kohl’s also announced that it plans to remodel 30 locations this year. The new locations feature convenient store designs with updated checkout stations, newly designed shopping carts and strollers, an expanded customer service area located at the front of the store, Kohl’s Kiosks, electronic signs, Wi-Fi and upgraded fitting rooms with lounges. In addition, eight of the new stores were built according to a prototype that received LEED certification at the Gold level from the U.S. Green Building Council. Currently, the company operates 1,155 stores across 49 states.
