MOM's Organic Market to Open Maryland Store

Rockville, Md.-based family-owned grocer MOM’s Organic Market will open a new store in Waldorf, Md. The store will feature a number of eco-conscious design elements, including low-impact building materials, low-VOC paint, LED lighting and energy-efficient, closed-door coolers. MOM's Waldorf also will be 100 percent wind-powered, and will feature recycling centers for CFL bulbs, household batteries and used shoes, as well as two electric car-charging stations. Currently, MOM's operates 10 stores in Alexandria, Herndon and Merrifield, Va.; and Bowie, College Park, Frederick, Jessup, Rockville, Timonium and Waldorf, Md.
