Menards Outlines Store Renovation Plans
January 31, 2012
Eau Claire, Wis.-based home improvement retailer Menard Inc. plans to remodel its store in Golden Valley, Minn., according to the Star Tribune. The renovation will increase the originally 128,000-sq.-ft. location to 250,000 sq. ft., and will be modeled after a similar two-level store in St. Paul, Minn. The store—which is closed during the remodel—is slated to reopen in spring 2012. Last year, Menards debuted the conversion of its Eden Prairie, Minn., location into a 235,000-sq.-ft., two-level store. The larger stores offer expanded products and services, including garden centers, lumber yards and large furniture displays. The company, which operates 37 stores in Minnesota, reportedly paid $5 million for a 2.2-acre lot next to its Richfield, Minn., store, which it will begin tearing down in a few months. Currently, the company operates 262 stores in 13 states, primarily in the Midwest.
