Nordstrom Plans Continued Growth of Rack Concept

Seattle-based Nordstrom Inc. plans to double its Nordstrom Rack portfolio to more than 230 stores over the next four years. In fiscal 2012, the company opened 15 Nordstrom Rack locations, with plans to open a projected 24 new stores for 2013. Planned store locations for this year include: Ann Arbor, Mich.; Auburn Hills, Mich.; Birmingham, Ala.; Boston; Columbia, Md.; Portland, Maine; Upland, Calif.; Washington, D.C.; Atlanta; Cleveland; Columbus, Ohio; Concord, Calif.; Culver City, Calif.; El Paso, Texas; and Honolulu. The company also will enter the Canadian market for the first time, with a new store in 2014. Currently, Nordstrom operates 240 stores in 31 states, including 117 full-line stores, 119 Nordstrom Racks, two Jeffrey boutiques, one treasure&bond store and one clearance store.
