February 01, 2013

The Retail Design Institute (RDI) inducted Marc Gobe and Bevan Bloemendaal into the Retail Store Design Legion of Honor at its 42nd Annual International Store Design Awards Gala. Gobe is currently CEO and founder of Emotional Branding LLC, a think tank that helps brands create meaningful and enduring connections with people. He is known for his concept of “Emotional Branding” and his work with brands, including Express, Structure and Victoria’s Secret, on store architecture, store design, branded environments, visual merchandising and interior styling. Bloomendaal is currently senior director of global creative services for The Timberland Co., where he is responsible for overall brand integrity for all of the retailer’s channels in more than 90 countries worldwide. Since 2001, he has been responsible for Timberland’s brand integrity, including installations in department stores, specialty stores, franchisees, distributors and the company’s 1,100 retail/outlet stores. “The Legion of Honor is recognized by the global design community as the most prestigious group of individuals who’ve shaped our industry and who serve as true icons,” said Brian Dyches, international chairman of RDI. The Retail Design Legion of Honor was established in 2001 and there are currently 36 inductees.
