Milford, Conn.-based Subway plans to open as many as 1,000 new European locations in 2014, according to Bloomberg. The company has opened approximately 500 stores per year in Europe for the past two years. The continued growth will be focused on the United Kingdom, with a goal to have 2,000 outlets by 2015. Growth also will quicken in The Netherlands, Finland and Sweden, where at least 20 stores have opened in each country in the past year. The company also aims to debut in Latvia, Lithuania, Georgia and Ukraine by the end of the year. Currently, the company operates 4,018 stores in Europe.
