Supervalu Announces Store Closures

Minneapolis-based Supervalu Inc. plans to close seven Save-A-Lot stores in Oregon, according to Progressive Grocer. The stores, which include two locations in Portland, are expected to close by the end of the year. The closures are part of a larger restructuring plan set in motion by the recently hired new President and CEO Wayne Sales. This announcement follows previous news that the company’s transformation would include up to 22 Save-A-Lot and 27 Albertson store closures.
