Topshop Continues U.S. Expansion
September 24, 2013
U.K.-based Arcadia Group plans to open more than 150 new franchise stores globally over the next year, including 28 Topshop stores in the United States, according to The Telegraph. The company will expand its Topshop and Topman’s presence within Nordstrom department stores from 14 in-store shops to 42, with the 28 new stores opening within the next 28 days. The in-store shops will open in major cities across the country, including San Diego, Houston and Washington, D.C., for the first time. The company’s plans also include new stores across its brands—which include Dorothy Perkins, Miss Selfridge, Burton, Topshop and Topman—in Australia, Vietnam and Canada, with Topshop set to open its first standalone store in New Zealand in 2014. In addition to its Nordstrom in-store shops, Topshop currently has flagship stores in New York, Chicago, Las Vegas and Los Angeles. The retailer’s U.S. expansion comes after owner Sir Philip Green sold a stake in the brand last December to U.S. private-equity firm Leonard Green & Partners.
