Tumi to Roll Out New Store Design
October 18, 2013
South Plainfield-based Tumi has unveiled a new design concept at its New York flagship, according to www.wwd.com. Located at 610 Madison Ave., the 1,800-sq.-ft. store will be considered Tumi’s main New York store, as its current flagship at 520 Madison Ave. will shutter early next year. The new design, which the brand will roll out across its stores and in-store shops, is focused on highlighting product with lighter-colored wooden furniture and custom-made shelving. Designed by Dror Benshetrit, the space makes luggage more accessible and visible with angled display bays that allow customers to see the product from all sides. The store also features LED lighting, a 12-ft. flatscreen television that plays Tumi’s campaigns and polished metal fixtures with wood detailing. This year, Tumi will open five new U.S. stores, and in 2014, it will open more than 20 stores domestically and a number of stores internationally, primarily in the United Kingdom and France.
