UNIQLO Opens First West Coast Flagship

UNIQLO Co. Ltd., a division of Japan-based Fast Retailing Co. Ltd., has opened its first-ever West Coast store in San Francisco. Located at 111 Powell St. in Union Square, the three-level, 29,000-sq.-ft. store features a sleek design and the latest modern technology, including the retailer’s new “virtual dressing rooms.” Developed by Dai Nippon Printing (DNP), the dressing rooms’ “Magic Mirror” technology features a Kinect color-changing engine and half-mirror touch panel, allowing customers to switch between different color palettes of clothing. Additionally, an LED-illuminated rainbow staircase serves as a strong focal point, and 77 LCD screens line the perimeter of the store. San Francisco is the company’s fifth U.S. retail location. Other U.S. locations include a store in Paramus, N.J., and three stores in New York.
