Washington, D.C.-based United States Green Building Council (USGBC) announced that its building performance partnership (BPP) will now be open to all current whole-building LEED-certified commercial and residential projects. According to the USGBC, BPP is a program to engage owners and managers of commercial and residential LEED-certified green buildings by optimizing building performance through data collection, analysis and action. Participation is voluntary, and consists of owners, managers and building occupants. More than 120 projects are currently participating in phase one, which will focus on energy and water. Participants will receive a basic performance report by November 2010 for Greenbuild in Chicago. In addition, no building will be decertified for performance or a performance gap, according to the USGBC. The USGBC is made up of 80 local chapters, 17,000 member companies and organizations, and more than 150,000 individuals who have earned LEED professional credentials.
