Walmart Opens Five Small-Format Stores in California

Bentonville, Ark.-based Wal-Mart Stores Inc. has opened five Neighborhood Market stores in California’s Central Valley, according to The Sacramento Bee. The new small-format grocery stores are located on Marconi Avenue. in Sacramento; Douglas Boulevard. in Granite Bay; G Street in Lincoln; E. March Lane in Stockton; and Coffee Road in Modesto. The stores range from 31,000 sq. ft. to 55,000 sq. ft., and tout quick, convenient shopping for groceries, pharmacy items and general merchandise. Launched in 1998, the company’s Neighborhood Market chain now includes 200 stores nationwide.
