Walmart to Accelerate Small-Store Growth

Bentonville, Ark.-based Wal-Mart Stores Inc. continues to accelerate the rollout of its Neighborhood Markets, with plans to open 95 to 115 small formats next year. By fiscal-year 2016, the company expects to operate more than 500 Neighborhood Markets. The company also will open approximately 125 supercenters next year, expecting to add between 36 million and 39 million sq. ft. globally. Currently, Walmart operates 10,300 stores under 69 banners in 27 countries.
