Whole Foods on Track to Grow to 1,000 Stores

Austin, Texas-based Whole Foods Market Inc. continues to expand, maintaining that it is on track to grow to 1,000 stores. The grocer opened a record nine new stores in the third quarter, one in the fourth and plans to open another six by the end of fiscal 2012, bringing this year’s total of new stores to 25. The company has signed 12 new leases and is on track to grow the chain to 1,000 stores from its current 369.
